FOUNDER'S MESSAGE

Basketball has always been more than a game to me.

I've seen firsthand what this game can do for a young person's confidence, discipline, character, and future. But I've also seen what can happen when we spend so much time developing the athlete that we overlook the person.

Young athletes need more than someone to teach them how to shoot, dribble, defend, or compete. They need people willing to challenge them, believe in them, hold them accountable, and help prepare them for a life that extends far beyond basketball.

That's why I started Next 5 Basketball Academy.

I believe the basketball court is one of life's greatest classrooms. It teaches us how to respond when things don't go our way. It reveals how we handle adversity, success, pressure, failure, teamwork, and responsibility. And when those moments are paired with intentional coaching and mentorship, basketball can help shape the person an athlete is becoming.

That's what I wanted the Academy to be.

A place where young people could develop their game without neglecting their character.

A place where excellence is expected, but integrity matters.

A place where athletes learn that leadership isn't about being the loudest person in the room—it's about serving others, taking responsibility, and setting an example.

A place where faith provides the foundation and perseverance gives them the strength to keep moving forward when the journey gets difficult.

Those beliefs became our Core Five Principles: Faith as the Foundation, Excellence in Effort, Integrity in All Things, Servant Leadership, and Perseverance with Purpose.

They're more than principles we teach. They're the standard we're committed to pursuing ourselves.

As a husband, father, coach, author, and mentor, I recognize the responsibility that comes with having an opportunity to influence a young person's life. When a parent places their child in our care, they're trusting us with something far more important than basketball development.

I don't take that responsibility lightly.

My commitment is to create an environment where young athletes are challenged to work, encouraged to grow, allowed to make mistakes, taught to learn from them, and reminded that who they become will always matter more than the number beside their name on a scoreboard.

Some of our athletes may go on to play high school basketball. Some may play in college. A few may have the opportunity to take the game even further.

But eventually, the ball stops bouncing for all of us.

When that day comes, I want the lessons learned through Next 5 Basketball Academy to remain.

The discipline.

The confidence.

The integrity.

The leadership.

The perseverance.

The faith.

That's what Develop Better Players. Build Stronger Leaders. means to me.

It's not simply a slogan.

It's why Next 5 Basketball Academy exists.
